The basin wrench is used to tighten the nuts onto the bottom of the taps and infact any other awkward access nuts, the jaws are self tightening the more pressure the tighter the faw on the nut, the long handle alows for the plumber to reach the nut when other tools such as adjustable wrench will not fit.
The head flips over making it the perfect angle to lock onto the nut, the self adjusting jaws grip the nut and away you go.
The Basin wrench can also be used to undo these nuts by simply flipping the jaws over.
